Day 2909: The Day That Matters

Today is the day that matters. Beyond all other days. It rocked us out of orbit, so counting the rotations of earth around the sun mattered no more. All orbits stopped. As in each year, we must acknowledge the day.

The year, like all previous 7, has been spent creating days that matter. Days with hope and sunshine. Beanz leads the way with your annual KT Golf Tournament where your squadron of friends showed up. And now we have 3 generations with their kids and their parents. The day rolls with ‘competitions’ that don’t matter, as it really should be. Your mantra is alive and well: It’s not (just) about winning, it’s being on your game. So the wins are personal and ephemeral, minor acknowledgements that quickly disappear until one day they enter the conversation ‘remember when’ and drift off again. And yes, I did make a 30 foot putt.

The tournament now has your ‘progeny’ of sorts, those who carry on your spirit. An SEHS football coach who gets it: You never know about the future, so put your time and effort in the moment and create days that matter. You are still very much part of the program. Not the way we hoped, but presence nevertheless. Your ‘progeny’ includes students with KT scholarships leading them to future days that matter: Four year programs of study that will allow them to make a difference.

So, we are still here with another year of remembrance, forging our way forward as best we can. Surrounded by family and friends creating days that matter.

Arrivaderci KT. Fino al prossimo anno.
